The cane is very possibly the most under-estimated self-protection aid traveling the streets. It has been forgotten by most
that in the1800’s in England and Ireland gentlemen were forced by law to acquire a permit to carry a cane in the street. In
those days the effectiveness and lethality of a cane was understood.
Most traditional martial arts teach cane techniques which
are derived from a simple application of their style. This, however, does not directly translate into effective tactics for
high-stress street encounters.
Canadian Use of Force Systems has applied the linear and direct concepts of Western Unarmed Combatives to the cane to create highly effective self-protection, control and aggressive force tactics applications. The result is a practical and fast-to-learn (non-martial arts) approach to using the cane as a finely tuned and accessible Self-Protection implement that can be carried… literally everywhere. Ideal for “Baby Boomers” or those who carry a cane for walking purposes the Canadian Use of Force Cane Tactics.
Our “Cane Tactics” Program is taught in a seminar format. Where applicable students train against motivated attackers in professional FIST training suits. Please contact us for more details on how to attend a seminar in your area.
